Types of Silicosis and Symptoms

Acute Silicosis
Disease can spread withing weeks or a few months when exposed to very high levels of crystalline silica.
Symptoms that normally occur:
Shortness of breath
Extreme Weakness
Heavy Weight Loss

Accelerated silicosis
Results from exposure to medium to low level of crystalline silica and disease occurs after 5 years or even 10 years
Symptoms also include:
Weakness
Weight Loss
Shortness of Breath

Chronic silicosis
This occurs after 10 or more years of exposure to crystalline silica
Symptoms are not that obvious so it is advised that workers go for regular checkups and by taking the needed xrays to
make sure that their lungs have not been damaged.
May experience shortness of breath when exercising
Chest Pains may also occur
